Many of you would know that when Rick proposed to me at McAllister, he presented me with an engagement ring he had fashioned from fencing wire. (it is very precious to me and has been replaced by a beautiful diamond since!).

One of my highlights was to visit the Undara Lava Tubes on a nearby National Park and station owned by the Collins Family who we had the pleasure of knowing when we lived in the Gulf.

Two days ago I received a message and photo from Tasmania from a lady I had nursed with, at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, telling me she had just finished reading ‘Back of Beyond.’ It’s nice to know it’s still selling and all over Australia.

Here, in the beautiful rainforests of North Queensland, we have enjoyed a journey down Memory Lane. Naturally things have developed and changed, but in a nice way. There is so much to see and do within a close proximity.

We arrived early and set up Priscilla in a pretty, tranquil clearing before heading to The Boulders, a superb swimming hole with clear, spring fed water. Rick braved a swim but the water was too cold for me.

The evenings were spent enjoying great company, delicious meals (beef!), stimulating conversation and lots of laughter.

Here our problems began. As Rick went to pay for the night he discovered his wallet was missing. We turned Priscilla and the car upside down, to no avail.

Leaving Lake Wuruma we drove through Mt Perry to Gin Gin, then onto “The Summit” outside the town of 1770. I found this new site on Wikicamps. The manager told us,

‘Keep going straight and up the hill to the top……’
